Answer 23  is to guess grave #31 (coming from 18) based on:

Using the text on reverse: "The man entrances you. This it what happens at night. He yells it over and over. You don’t know what he means. You have to find it. You run to where you see the twin angels at night. This is what he wants. Then one pace west. Then one pace…north? One more pace north. Maybe it’s one more? One more? ……One more?

  • "The man entrances you...He yells it over and over. You don’t know what he means." - The protagonist hears entrance "to mesmerize", rather than the directions to return to the entry of cemetery.
  • You run to where you see the twin angels at night. Many players thinks that this indicated card 15 again, so the language might need changed slightly to make it misleading but not too misleading. I think changing it to 'run down to' would be enough. The player is intended to run down until the road, where two headlights would appear at night, forming the angels.
  • This is what he wants is intended to indicate that running down towards the exit/road is the correct direction. Then one spot west. Then north to the end.

Design Choices: The last few are more or less riddle based, and the text is on the reverse of the cards. This helps to keep too much info from being revealed early. This especially applies to the dread I wanted to create centered on 18. With the man entrancing you, you aren't able to understand exactly what he is saying, or discern what he wants. Entrance and En-trance are spelled the same. The front text indicates you have been here before, and that the cemetery closes at dusk, but also that you may or may not have been shoo'd away before.

This is one of the points where I used my grandma's Alzheimer's symptoms to guide the experience. Yes there is confusion, disorientation, issues remembering, sundown syndrome, but also I remember that when she would talk, she would talk about things in metaphor, in synonym, or in reference to something else very similarly related.

I remember on more than one occasion that she pointed to a large flat home across the lake where we were at the time, and call it the 'dance hall'. My mom said she used volunteer as botanical garden guide at some sort of lakeside venue (different lake) where they would also have parties. This was her grasping at what she could remember to explain what she was seeing.

When she was in care, I remember being in her room with her, and she said she was 'waiting for the angels'. I was put off by the comment. It was cryptic, concerning, or in some way forbidding. Two women caretakers came to the door shortly after, and she said 'there they are!'

I remember hearing her speak, and one part of me thought it was like when an adult listens to a child, not always understanding, but agreeing and saying 'That's great!' and being supportive of the conversation. The other part of was always thinking that if I could figure out the references and replace the words she used, I could understand.
